Shamans of the Amazon

"This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes."

the west is the best. we are lead to believe that our culture, our technologically advanced and complicated society, is something which the undeveloped world should aspire to. we are encouraged to feel pity for these pre-literate, stone-age tribes.
we are encouraged to believe that these people are ignorant savages whom we have a duty to indoctrinate into our way of being.
we are cutting edge, after all. we have lots of....STUFF.

no matter that these people live in harmony with their environment, no matter that they still experience a sense of tribal unity and companionship that has been lost since the industrial revolution. no matter that they possess ancient knowledge of the plant teachers that the pharmaceutical industry wish to patent and synthesise and claim as their own, whilst simultaneously delivering a small-pox blanket that utterly destroys with western materialism a beautiful, simple and natural way of living.

no matter that these people still possess their freedom; no matter that these people are still independant of the state, able to provide for themselves; resilient and strong and relentlessly optimistic in spite of having none of the false trinkets we use as markers of our sour and pathetic success.

no matter, no matter. we won't stop til all indigenous knowledge is destroyed and we are all as helpless and dependant on the government for our survival as each other. we must destroy all doors into the shamanic world, we must ban and outlaw any plant that can give us access to our higher selves, that cleanses the doors of perception and makes us see that this world of matter is merely an illusion.
